Description
Portrait of the Eyraud Family residence in Indian Hill, Rich Bar. Left to right: John Frank Eyraud, Eva Eyraud (daugther), and Lena Eyraud (Wife). Dewitt Kellogg built this house in 1852. The property was above Rich Bar, the roaring gold camp in the Feather River Canyon. Lumber for the house was sawed from trees growing on the land. They brought the mill equipment from Mr. Kellogg's sawmill at Rich Bar. On July 12, 1872 Dewitt Kellogg sold the property which included mining claims, water ditch, Kellogg Ravine, house, furniture, outside buildings, and the right to homestead, to Aime Lucien Roydor and Jean (John) Lazier. The amount of purchase was $400.00.
