Title supplied by cataloger. Opening day of the MTA Orange Line at the North Hollywood Metro Red Line Park and Ride, located at 5350 Lankershim Blvd. This photo shows multitudes of people waiting in a long line to board the bus. When the Orange Line first opened, Metro Transit Authority expected approximately between 5,000 to 7,000 riders to use this line in its first year of operation, and expected that number to increase between 21,000 to 25,000 riders by the year 2020. Between the months of November 2005 to March 2006, the ridership average was 16,766 boardings per weekday. In May 2006, the average reached 21,828 boardings per weekday, surpassing the original expectation. Photograph dated October 29, 2005.
