Description
Pictured on March 8, 1942, is the newly constructed Ransome truck terminal at 324 North Sixteenth Street. It was built in order to provide mechanical, lubrication, fuel and personal assistance to agricultural and industrial truckers operating in northern California. Built at a cost of 50,000 dollars, the lot measured 200 by 250 feet and was constructed in unison with several Standard Oil terminals in California, Oregon and Washington. Based in Emeryville and new to Sacramento, Ransome had been in construction engineering for 70 years prior to entering the truck terminal business at the onset of World War II.
