Yellow mount, purple back.
Shows Dickenson's house and to right is Old Whaling Station, originally built by David Wight in 1847, became headquarters of Old Monterey Whaling Company. "First brick house in California, built and owned by Judge J. D. Dickenson, Monterey, 1847" -- handwritten on verso.
Gallant Duncan Dickenson came to Monterey in 1847, built home of fired bricks.
