Robert Hall was born in Brookline, Mass. in 1841. Came to California in 1863 settling in San Francisco. In 1869 formed Howe & Hall, fruit and commission merchants, which continued until 1882. In 1883 settled in Sonoma Valley buying land where planted fruit orchards, vineyards, hay & grain.
