Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on June 26, 1967 states: "The westbound lanes of the elevated W-X Streets Freeway were opened to traffic at 10:50 a.m. today from 15th Street to the Pioneer Bridge across the Sacramento River. A corresponding section of eastbound lanes from the bridge to 15th Street will be opened tomorrow. The remainder of the freeway to the 29th-30th Street Freeway interchange will be opened sometime next year."
