Photographic portrait of Antonio Maria de la Guerra, [s.d.]. De la Guerra is shown from his torso to his head and is facing straight ahead. His eyes are turned slightly to the left. He is wearing a military dress uniform complete with a dark jacket, epaulets and rope braid. He has dark hair parted at right and a thick moustache that extends into sideburns. The son of Jose Antonio de la Guerra y Noriega, he was born in Santa Barbara on October 1, 1825 and died November 28, 1881. He was a member of the California Senate and was several times the mayor of Santa Barbara. During the Civil War in 1861-65, he was captain of California volunteers and served in Arizona.
