Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated June 21, 1949 partially reads, "Philip Delliquadri, born in Italy in 1885, is growing 26 acres of peaches, plums and grapes in San Fernando Valley, California, U.S.A. today and it's all his. He came to this country 49 years ago and went to work as a day laborer. One spring day in 1912 he had 15 cents. He bought a loaf of bread. Since then, with the proceeds from the labor of his hands, he has bought and developed his orchards. 'I keep-a going steady,' he said today. 'I like keep-a the land clean an' fine. This is-a good country. You work. You get a chance.'"
