Photograph caption dated June 21, 1947 reads, "Besides Smiley, the other persons in the house at the time of the shooting were, left to right, E. S. Lee, the Chinese cook; Charles Hill, Miss Hill's brother; and Jerrie Mason, her secretary. The three had retired, leaving only Siegel and Smiley in the living room when the shooting occurred, according to police reports."
