Description
Photograph of an interior view of the water power plant on Kern River, ca.1930. Two identical cylindrical machines sit in the center with one in the foreground and one in the background. The machines narrow as they grow taller so that the top is a small cylinder. To the right of the machines there are gauges attached to complicated pumps and pipes. A wheel attached to a post sits in front of each of the machines while the machine in the background has a man at the wheel. To the left, a man stands against the wall while light cascades into the room through long windows. In the background, the windows to offices are visible as are stairs and an open doorway.
