Jongintaba Dalindyebo was supreme chief of the Thembu. He became Nelson Mandela’s guardian after the death of Mandela’s father. Nelson Mandela lived at the homestead of Jongintaba from the age of 9 until 16 and was raised together with Jongintaba's children. -- Samuel Baudert (1879-1956), born as son of the missionary Samuel Baudert in South Africa, was mission director of the Moravian Church from 1924 to 1927 and since 1929 their bishop.
