Description
Photograph caption dated March 3, 1958 reads "With engines at full throttle, helicopter tugs giant 3,500-pound section of powerline transmission tower into air. Steel structures are carried to construction site high on mountains and 'copter hovers with suspended tower while workers below bolt section into place." The Southern California Edison Company is linking Saugus and Chatsworth with a 66,000 volt transmission line. See images 00155775 through 00155778 for all photos in this series.
