Description
"M'Lange and District. Interior of M'Lange Church." View of church interior looking towards pulpit. The M’Lange [Mulanje] mission was established by Rev. Robert Clement Scott at Linje in 1891, after initial delays due to tribal tensions in the area. The original missionary drive in Mulanje, Nyasaland [Malawi] had been spearheaded by Robert Cleland and the church was opened in 1899 as the 'Cleland Memorial Chapel' in his memory. The pulpit, font and seats were all made at the Mission from cedar and mahogany from Mount Mlanje.
