Description
Photograph shows initial stages of construction of Sacramento Valley Sugar Company in Hamilton City, Glenn County. A general view of the factory on May 12th. Taken from the top of the office building looking south. The warehouse is in the foreground, on the floor of which are the steel trusses for the warehouse roof. On the third floor of the factory the granulator is set in place. To the left of the main factory building is the boiler house and the partially completed foundation of the big smoke-stack. All the surrounding land, as far as the little white houses in the extreme distance beyond the lime kilns, has been plowed and set out in beets. [To accompany MSS001 held in Special Collections, Meriam Library.]
