Description
On the Mount Tamalpais & Muir Woods Railway, passengers pose for a panoramic picture at the Double Bow Knot. Water tanks for locomotives are seen left center above train (engines obtained water from the front tank with spout.) A pile of railroad tracks is seen at far right center. Mesa Station is seen between the ties and water tanks. A handwritten note on the back of the photograph reads: "Engine #4 with train entering double bow-knot. Water tanks for locomotives in rear at Mesa Station. Engines obtained water from front tank with spout. Near tank is additional supply. Mesa Station shown just to right of trees. Piles of ties to right. Could be 1906-1907 when wood branch was being built. Muir Woods line branched off to left of water tanks. Track showing above first car is track up mountain above Mesa."
