Description
Photograph of bathers under umbrellas on the beach at Santa Monica, [s.d.]. The beach is at center and is full of dark-colored umbrellas, under which countless people are sitting and lounging. Numerous people are playing in the surf at right. A row of tall buildings lines the beach at left, and the ocean is at right. In the background at right is the Santa Monica pier, and a roller coaster and a Ferris wheel are visible. There is a life guard tower rising above the crowd at center. In the foreground at right, there is a woman standing on a crumpled banner with large, illegible letters on it. Legible signs include, from left to right, "Merritt-Jones Hotel", "Morley's Buffet", "Maier Beer on Draught", "Maier Beer", and "Café".
