Description
Photograph identification: This splendid specimen of a ponderosa pine approaching maturity and left after the first cut was Mr. James P. Soper's idea of the perfect tree. Unfortunately it was killed by pine beetles and salvaged in 1965. Bill Holmes standing beside the tree. Tree is seen from the La Porte Road between Strawberry Valley and La Porte in Plumas County. Photographer is Marge Holmes.
