Photograph of sluicing operation at a placer mine, below Hunker, Alaska, ca.1894. The sluice winds its way down the slope. About ten tents are visible pitched in the forested slope. Several men are working near the sluice which is supported on both sides by numerous wood poles. The sluice empties at the bottom of the image.
