Description
Bust-length portrait.
1990-1624.
Born in New York in 1833. Sailed for California in 1852, crossing via Isthmus to Panama. Worked in the mines, owning several mines such as Black Bear, the Klamath Mine. Served in the legislature, Lieutenant Governor from 1883-1887, California Commissioner to Chicago World's Fair in 1892, Superintendent of the U.S. Mint, San Francisco from 1893-1897. Died in 1919.
