Images were chosen from family albums and include daily life, social organizations, work, personal and holiday celebrations, and migration and immigration activities. Tuiofu Foisia, Jr. was born in 1944. His father was from American Samoa and his mother was from Western Samoa. His father served in the U.S. Navy which is why they moved from Samoa to Hawaii to California. His family began living in Carson in 1956. Elizabeth Foisia was born in Western Samoa and moved to New Zealand with her family in 1953. They met in 1971 when Elizabeth came to California for a church conference and married in 1973. Tuiofu joined the U.S. Army in 1963 after graduating high school. He attended Harbor College for one year after he returned before working for United Airlines. Kea Foisia was born in American Samoa in 1949 and moved to California in 1964. Her family was friends with the Foisia family and she married Harry Foisia in the 1970s.
