Photograph caption dated July 16, 1982 reads, "About 500 pro-Khomeini demonstrators chanting "Death to Israel" and "Down with Zionism" march along Wilshire Boulevard to the Israeli Consulate today to protest the Israeli invasion of Lebanon. The protest was coordinated with similar demonstrations in Jerusalem and New Delhi. In Jerusalem, hundreds of Palestinians staged a violent, rock-throwing demonstration at the hallowed Temple Mount. Police fired in the air to disperse them. In the Indian capital, a crowd of Iranians and other protesters, some carrying pictures of the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, demonstated at the American Embassy against what they viewed as U.S. support of Israel's Lebanon attack."
