Description
Article included with photograph dated January 14, 1964 partially reads, "A 34-year-old Alameda County attorney said here Thursday he's going to lead a fight to 'return the California Young Republicans to the Republican party.' And that means all-out warfare with the outgoing CYR president Robert Gaston of La Canada, said James R. Slaybaugh of Fremont... Slaybaugh, who has announced he will seek the CYR presidency at the annual convention next month in San Diego, cited what he said was Sen. Barry Goldwater's admonition to Gaston to 'keep your mouth shut or get out of the Republican party.'" Pictured is James R. Slaybaugh.
