Description
Photograph of a crowd of pedestrians on Pine Street during an Armistice Day parade, Long Beach, ca.1924. In the center background, a float that reads "Long Beach World Port" is decorated with miniature pier buildings and grass. Several men attend it. In the left foreground, a group of young men in suits and porkpie hats congregate just over top of the street car rails that are embedded in the dirt road. Farther back, a man leans over the edge of the roof of a nearby building, scraps of wood and planks piled next to him. Tall commercial buildings fill the rest of the image, a web of cable-car wires hung over the street. Legible signs from left to right read "Scifres Tailor", "Security Savings Bank. Temporary Location", "Marine Bank", "Kress [...]0-25 cents", "F and M Bank", "W.E. Babbit", "J.V. McNeil Company Contractors.", "Graham Bros. Inc", "Geo. M. LA Shell", "Wesselne Marble & Tile Co.", "Jensen Electric Co.", "L.B. Marble & Tile Co.", "Allen Sign Co.", "WIlliam Farnum", "Photographs", "Dentists", and "Ask Ellis".
