Photograph caption dated February 17, 1964 reads, "Tribute from Southern California was given D. B. Lewis, left, better known as 'Dr. Ross' pet food manufacturer, by more than 1,100 persons at a Miramar Hotel banquet in Santa Monica. Presenting a 'Golden Book Award' to Lewis is George Todt, a newspaperman who began his column writing career with the Valley Times. Lewis was honored for his 'continuing battle on behalf of conservative constitutional principles."
