Description
Photo of a parade float as it passes in front of the Gap store, located on Hollywood Blvd and Highland Avenue. A man wearing a rich blue ethnic outfit stands toward the front, and a Chinese dragon, whose entire body is made up of balloons, takes up most of the space on the float. The letters "AT&T" can be seen below the dragon, on the bottom side of the float. USC marching band follows in the background. This float is one of many that participated in the Lunar New Year Parade along Hollywood Boulevard on this date. Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, starts at the beginning of spring. It occurs somewhere between January 30 and February 20, and it is China's biggest holiday. It is celebrated with firecrackers, dragon dances and lion dances. 2002 was the Year of the Horse. Photo dated: February 17, 2002.
