Vickie Bartmus, 17, reacts with open-mouthed surprise as she is announced the winner of the Pierce College freshman queen contest Wednesday. Vickie, a psychology major, lives in North Hollywood with her parents. Congratulating her at left is runner-up Loreen Onichak, 18, of Encino. The new queen and her court will preside over the Freshman Christmas Dance on Friday."
