Description
This 1944 depiction of the Tower Bridge provides a view from the West Sacramento side of the Sacramento River. Since its opening in 1935, the bridge has been painted three times, including coats of gold and ochre. Its original layer of paint was silver, a coating that was aluminum and petroleum-based. The same substance was used to cover the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge after its completion in November 1936.
