The mission itself is situated in the hills beyond a grove of trees in the middle of which a small building sits. Animals (horses?, cows?) and people are nearby. A river flows in the foreground. Caption reads: "S.E. view of the church ruin, walls, and orchard grounds of San Diego, the first founded Franciscan mission in upper California (1709)."
