Description
Biography/History: Celia Talavera was born in Michoacán, México. She married and had children there before coming to the United States with her family in 1988 and settling in Los Angeles. She has worked several jobs in the hospitality industry. Since 1999 she has worked at Loew’s Hotel in Santa Monica and between 2000 and 2005, she helped lead the union organizing campaign there. Celia has four children; three have graduated from college and, at the time of the interview, the fourth was in middle school.
