Photograph article dated December 15, 1960 partially reads, "There are almost as many opinions about college sororities and fraternities as there are about politics. Supporters feel the Greeks are a decidedly good influence on college campuses. Opposite fractions feel they breed prejudice and discrimination, snobbery and intolerance. 'Middle of the fencers' feel they do a little of both... At UCLA it is no more expensive to live in a sorority house than it is to live in the dorm. Any student who can afford one can afford the other. But, does any student who wants to get into a Greek organization receive a bid?... Shirley Ann Barkley, USC counselor for women's organizations, pointed out that over 45 per cent of their undergraduate full time co-eds are sorority girls... a higher percentage than at UCLA." Photograph caption reads, "'The Row' - at USC sororities and fraternities have converted old residences into meeting houses. Minimum number of members also live there."
