School Portrait of the First Antelope School. Donor/Source: Mr. and Mrs. Lyman C. Willard (Loan). First Antelope School. 1865-1895. Antelope cobblestone school house. The man teacher rode a horse to school and he and the horse was drowned while trying to swim the sand slough after school and one winter afternoon. This picture from the Leo A. McCoy Collection to Dan Bayles. Then to Lynman Willard. November 1971. Antelope # 3 (Cobblestone) School built August 1865 and used until 1896. 3 1/2 miles east. J Red Bulb in Antelope Valley.
