Photograph caption dated May 6, 1961 reads, "Burbank city officials in a 1911 Austin Martin (left) and 1911 Thomas Flyer cut the tape in stylish ceremonies which marked the opening of a $2 million link in the Golden State Freeway in Burbank. The big and little cars crossed the line in a photo finish at the 1,500-foot bridge which spans the flood control channel and Pacific Electric tracks in the vicinity of First street and Burbank boulevard."
