Photograph was edited for publication purposes.
Photograph caption dated December 18, 1944 reads, “Little Tokyo section of Los Angeles before the relocation; the question is what will happen when the Japanese return?” The view is on First Street, looking west towards San Pedro Street. Various businesses are visible, including the Tomio Department Store, Ginza Market, Iwaki Drug Company, Ten-sho Drugs, and the Kawafuku Café. Many of the buildings pictured no longer exist.
