Description
This circa 1947 postcard captures the barracks at McClellan Field. Starting as a small base when renamed from the Pacific Air Depot in 1938, McClellan Field expanded rapidly in the 1940s, with barracks like this one holding the hundreds of enlisted airmen stationed at McClellan. McClellan grew until it could hold around 26,000 staff on base annually.
