Description
This pigment print was made in 2011. It is signed, titled, and dated in pencil by the artist on verso; artist's wet stamp also on verso.
Fairbanks' funeral was held at the Wee Kirk o' the Heather Church at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale; afterwards, his remains were placed in a crypt in the Great Mausoleum. His widow, Sylvia, commissioned a marble monument to be designed in the classic Greek architectural style at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where he would later be interred. This monument, which includes the raised tomb and a rectangular reflecting pool, was dedicated in a ceremony in October 1941.; Hollywood Cemetery (5970-6000 West Santa Monica Boulevard) was founded in 1899. Paramount Studios was built on the back half of the original cemetery and is still in operation today. In 1998 the cemetery changed hands and the name was changed to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.; The extensive portfolio of photographic artist Carol Westwood (1942-2011), a native New Yorker who lived in Los Angeles for many years, includes a diverse array of subjects: animals, nudes, American and European cities, and portraits. Additionally, she worked on special and still photography for numerous motion picture and television productions in Hollywood; the archive of her entertainment and celebrity images was distributed internationally by Gamma, Liaison International, Stone Images, and Getty images from 1988-2003.
