Photograph caption dated May 2, 1961 reads, "Michael Johnson, left, 11, 5714 Babbit Ave., Encino, accepts Optimist Club plaque and certificate from Robert J. Emley, left District 14 boys work chairman, as Wilson Burke, zone boys work chairman, looks on. Michael, a student at Sepulveda Military School, captured the honor with a speech on 'Optimism - True Ingredient for Leadership' at the Theodore Roosevelt School Auditorium, Burbank. He is now eligible for International Optimist Club competition, set for June 19 in Las Vegas."
