Description
A broad view of a "continuous rail" crossing of Union Pacific and Southern Pacific Railroads in South Gate. The image shows the intersection of the two tracks, each of which stretches into the distance after they cross. There are a few men and a parked automobile on the left, and two more men on the right side of the crossing. Writing in white in the center of the image reads ""Continuous Rail" Crossing at Junction Union Pacific ; Southern Pacific Railroabs [sic], South Gate, California, ; Aug. 7th 1930." Writing in white in the bottom right corner of the image reads "Photo by F.M. Huddleston ; For ; C.C. Pierce & Co. ; 1572 W. Pico St. ; Los Angeles, Cal."
