An unidentified man (whose feet are visible under a sheet) was killed when nearly 2,800 pounds of plywood came crashing down on him as he walked through a Presbyterian Church construction site on the 8400 block of State Street in South Gate. Witnesses said the accident happened so quickly the victim had no time to scream for help. No one else was injured. Photograph dated August 28, 1989.
