Description
Five women in fashions for July 1847. The woman in the top left is wearing a pale blue short sleeved dress trimmed with rows of narrow ruffles. Over the dress she wears a black lace stole, and she wears black lace mitts and holds a single red flower. Her hair is dressed in a braided bun with side curls. The woman in the center wears an off the shoulder short sleeved gown trimmed with ruffles edged in zigzags. She wears a wide gold bracelet, and has green ribbons and pink flowers in her hair. The woman at the right has her hair dressed with a coronet of braids. Her white gown has a high neck edged with a narrow ruffle and wide lace ruffles at the sleeves and around the skirt. She wears a pink sash with long ends hanging down the front. The woman on the bottom left wears a pink bonnet trimmed with bows over her ringlets. Her dress is pale yellow with polka-dots. Two wide ruffles edged with scallops form the skirt and her long sleeves also end with ruffles. Over this she is wearing a bright blue mantelet edged with ruching at the front and ruffles on the hem.The woman at the bottom left is wearing a white ruched bonnet trimmed with with ribbons. Her high necked long sleeved dress is green and black striped with a narrow lace collar. Down the front of the bodice and skirt are black lace panels, and about a dozen rose and leak patterned green fastenings line the front of the skirt. Over her dress she has a cream colored patterned shawl with fringed hems draped across her elbows, and she holds a closed pale pink parasol in her left hand.
