Photograph caption dated December 31, 1958 reads, "Looking into a high-powered microscope, this Kelvin Electric Co. operator is making connections with wire one-eighth the thickness of a human hair. The special alloy wire used in resistors made by the company cost $7,000 a pound. A one-pound spool contains 300 miles of wire."
