Description
View of the 36-inch refractor telescope known as the "Great Lick Refractor." Located in the Great Dome at the south end of the main building.
The refractor telescope was installed on December 31, 1887 and on January 3, 1888 the refractor was tested. According to one account, the telescope tube had to be cut in order focus the lens. See http://collections.ucolick.org/archives_on_line/bldg_the_obs.html.
Scanned with Microtek Scanmaker 1000XL Pro; as a 600 dpi TIFF image in 8-bit Grayscale. Auto Level image processing applied and compressed into JPEG format using Photoshop CS3.
