Description
Statement in response to public interest in the food provided by the government to incarceration camps. The War Relocation Authority discusses restrictions on food, food production, and incarcerees in the agricultural industry. The collection contains material used by Carey McWilliams in writing the book, Prejudice: Japanese Americans, symbol of racial intolerance (Little, Brown, 1944). It includes U.S. War Relocation Authority records, confidential reports, bibliographies, clippings and compilations of articles, legal papers, correspondence between McWilliams and Japanese American evacuees, relocation camp newspapers and other publications, two copies of his book, and five copies of the 1994 videocassette (40 min.), Something Strong Within.
