The bell from Mission San Gabriel Arcangel was relocated and placed within a small wooden structure on a path leading to the Hugo Reid Adobe (background) at Santa Anita Ranch. The adobe was constructed in 1840 with the help of Gabrielino laborers and built of sun-dried adobe blocks made by mixing clay soil, water and a straw binder. The adobe is designated California Historical Landmark No. 368. The ranch was owned by E. J. "Lucky" Baldwin from 1875 to 1909.
