Photograph of Lankershim Boulevard, later North Hollywood Boulevard, in the town of Lankershim in the San Fernando Valley, California, ca.1927. Cars drive and park down either side of the two-lane, paved road. People walk the sidewalks along the shopfronts of commercial buildings. Telephone poles are visible down the left side, as well as two telephone lines stretching across the frame from left to right. Legible signs include: "Soda / Drugs", "Hardware", "Hotel", "Real Estate", "[...]'s Variety Store" and "Godwin's Drugs".
