Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Palomares Adobe in extreme disrepair, Pomona, 1938. The adobe is shown at the top of a small, grass-covered hill, its shingled roof sloughing off of the front of the house's frame and collapsing in small areas all along its surface. A large tree or some type of creeping plant also appears to be growing along side of or on top of the roof to the left. Small shrubs are dispersed irregularly across the hill. An utility pole can be seen in the right background. Photoprint reads: "The older days stage between San Bernardino and Los Angeles passed by here. At one time it was a sort of tavern. Built in 1850, it had six rooms in a row. Probably had an attic. Veranda on both sides, now fallen. Located on corner of Orange Grove and Cucamonga Avenue. East of Garey between Foothill and Valley Boulevards".
