Photograph caption dated June 29, 1954 reads, "Members of the St. Paul's Methodist Church, 5259 Newcastle Ave., Encino, gathered to join in groundbreaking services for new church building to be constructed soon. Shown turning first shovelfuls of earth at site are, left to right, Dr. Frank S. Williams, Board of Missions and Church Extension executive secretary; the Rev. Jarvis P. Brown, pastor; A. S. Peters, San Fernando Valley Methodist Union; Mac Beeman, youngest church member, seven years; Charles W. Collins, oldest church member, 76 years; Edward Frick, brother of architect for chapel; Russell Burriss, chairman of building committee."
