Photograph of a man looking at unidentified low-growing crop, ca.1900. A man in a light, striped shirt, dark pants and a plaid hat crouches over the rows of dark plants at center. He holds one of the thin plants in his left hand while the rest remain in the soil below. The plants are checkered with shade from the wooden beams which make up the canopy above. The area is fenced with thin, wooden rods while another plot of crops appears to lie unprotected in full sunlight on the right. Trees shade the land in the background.
