In this audio recording Peter F. Drucker discusses his ideas on management in his audiobook, “The Nonprofit Drucker.” This tape is part of the series, “Managing and Developing Yourself.” It is entitled, “Your Own Work and Your Own Career.” Drucker begins by talking about how career practices differ between the United States and Japan. He discusses how a person can acquire skills, but cannot acquire a personality. He describes how the decision-making process is personal and not standardized for everyone. Drucker talks about how apathetic people can turn around success and do a better job with proper motivation. He says that while managing can be effective, each individual worker must make his or her own decisions. He ends the interview by talking about the differences between self-managing, and managing others’ volunteer work.
