Air Force Technical Sergeant Moen served 28 months in the army during World War II as a medic and received numerous medals, including the Medical Combat Badge, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. In 1951 he was called to active duty with the Air National Guard's 146th Fighter-Bomber Squadron.
