Waist-length portrait.
Born in 1880 in Switzerland to Jewish parents. Came to the United States in 1916; worked for Maud Allan Dance Co.; director of Cleveland Institute of Music (1920-1925) and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (1925-1930). Spent 1930's in Switzerland returning to the United States in 1939 where he conducted master classes at the University of California, Berkeley. Settled in Agate Beach, Oregon where he died in 1959.
